A league leading 46 former USC Trojans are wearing NFL jersey at the beginning of the 2009-10 season. That can almost fill an entire NFL roster. To see the entire breakdown, please check out Ben Malcolmson’s USC: An NFL Factory on his The Ripsit Blog.
The Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks currently boast four Trojans a piece, but it seems as if only the Bengals quartet will remain fully intact for the entire season. Not only do they have four Trojans on their roster, but four of the most electrifying Trojans in recent years. They are lead by none other than former #1 pick, Carson Palmer, who is looking to bring the Bengals back into the playoff race with a healthy season.
The other three former Trojans are on the defensive side of the ball. The veteran (compared to the other two) is the hilarious Frostee Rucker who wants to continue to show the Bengals why he was a first day draft choice and a fan favorite everywhere he plays. The youngsters are ball-hawk and 2008 1st rounder, Keith Rivers, and the well-known bone crusher, Rey Maualuga, who somehow slipped to the 2nd round in the 2009 NFL Draft. I watched him play for four years in college and can’t imagine the kind of pain he will bring if he is playing with a chip on his shoulder.
What I think really makes the 46 Trojans in the NFL so impressive is that there are five QBs (four of whom could start this year) with the 29-year old Palmer as the oldest (for comparison sake, Brett Favre turns 40 this year).
