As John Clayton reported, Andre Smith suffered a fracture in his foot in his first practice with the Cincinnati Bengals. Yes…first day of practice.
After a lengthy holdout, the 330-pound rookie signed a deal yesterday potentially worth $42 and was hurt today in a non-contact drill.
Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of Bengals owner Mike Brown…
“The guy we just picked with the #6 pick in the NFL Draft shows up late, he is out of shape, he hurt himself in a non-contact drill on his first day of practice, and we now owe him at least $21M over the next four years? We should have just flushed the money down the toilet!”
Wow. Sounds like a rough start to the week.
I hope Smith gets back quick and that he and the Bengals’ season improves from here on out.
