Who said the economy is bad? The Nike-sponsored shooting guard, Brandon Roy, that currently rents in Nike’s backyard is now looking to buy a house and fully unpack. Why? Well, as Craig Bimbach of KATU Sports informed us, Roy just inked a 5-year $80,000,000 contract with the Portland Trail Blazers. I think it is safe to say that Microsoft Co-Founder & Blazers Owner, Paul Allen, truly believes that Roy can be the cornerstone of his franchise and has made it no secret that he believes Roy can lead the Trail Blazers back to the NBA Finals. They haven’t been able to reach the NBA Finals since 1992 when they lost to Michael Jordan & the Chicago Bulls in six games.
The 6-foot-6 guard is coming off of his third season in the NBA where he saw his scoring increase again as he averaged 22.6 points per game, which was tenth best in the League. He was also voted onto the All-NBA Second-Team.
This former NBA Rookie of the Year Award winner started off his career in the collegiate ranks at the University of Washington. He was part of the Huskies program for four years and was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year his senior year, as he averaged 20.2 points per game.
