Blazers Sign Second Rounder Cunningham

According to Joe Freeman with The Oregonian, the Portland Trail Blazers signed Dante Cunningham to a multi-year contract on Friday. The Blazers picked Cunningham with the third pick in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft.

“We are really excited about the versatility and determination Dante brings to our team,” general manager Kevin Pritchard said in a release. “Dante had a great summer league and we believe he has the potential to become a very good player in this league.”

In the Las Vegas NBA Summer League, the 6-foot-8 forward averaged a team-high 18.3 points & 5.8 rebounds in four games.

Cunningham is coming off of a Final Four trip with Villanova in last years March Madness. He averaged 16.1 points & 7.5 rebounds in 38 games last year. He holds the school record of 139 games played and is one of only six players in school history to record 1,300 points & 800 rebounds.
