A Sad Day in Sports

Hopefully this is just a temporary thing…

Mark Madsen Los Angeles Clippers

The first thing I read today was that the always floundering Los Angeles Clippers decided to waive Mark “Mad Dog” Madsen. I am sure it was an economical move as it brought the Clippers roster down to 12 players, but why cut Mark? A great practice player & crowd favorite with insane dance moves.

This former first rounder out of Stanford was the last first rounder picked in the 2000 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He spent three of his nine seasons there and picked up two Championship rings. He then signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves where he spent the rest of his NBA career before being traded to the Clippers earlier this summer. He was used very sparingly the past two years only playing in 39 total games. He has a career average of 2.2 points & 2.7 rebounds in 11.8 minutes through 453 games.

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that I hope somebody signs him. He is a fun player to watch, but his time may be over. Not a bad run though…two rings & over $15M in contracts.

Good luck Mark!
